The mother of a 14 year-old boy attending the Adolescent Issues Group told the ACS group leader:

"I don't know what you are doing there, but since he’s started I’ve noticed a big difference. He is always ready to go to the group–he used to avoid therapy and that’s why I had him on a CHINS and going to court-ordered treatment…. He loves going there. For the last five weeks, he hasn’t been running out of the house. He doesn’t tell me to f--- off when he’s mad. He actually talked to me recently about what specifically I had said that hurt him. And I told him what hurt me and we talked about not talking in such hurtful ways to each other. We actually resolved something. Matt’s been more respectful and is learning that when he tells me what is going on in a reasonable way, I will speak to him in a reasonable way. That’s something new for him.”
